Face Pigmentation and Genetic Discomfort

Getting too much sun damages your skin and can also lead to pigmentation spots in your face. But also over the years we tend to develop easier spots especially women due to their hormones change and very often when pregnant. Even air pollution affect your skin as well and can cause skin changes. But it is not only our environment that can cause spots on our face as it is sometimes a genetic factor as well that we tend to more easily develop spots or perhaps we were born with birthmarks, warts or telangiectases.

There are many different treatments to diminish or reduce age spots, hyperpigmentation or any genetic discomfort and most people choose to have them removed.

As every case is different Dr. San Miguel will study thoroughly your skin problem in order to apply the most suitable treatment for you and obtain the best result.

Peeling

Sun exposure, acne, or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred and it is often solved by a peeling, a medical procedure in order to create younger-looking skin.

Peeling involves destroying the superficial layers of your skin which will be replaced by new skin cells, creating new skin and it is done mechanically or by chemically.

A chemical peeling uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers by creating second degree burn on the skin which causes the top layers of the skin to peel off and the new regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

The mechanical peeling “sand” or “polish” the skin and gradually removes epidermal tissue and it is often done by an electronic device.

Following the peeling action, the top layer of skin is removed and a scab is formed where new skin heals under the scab. The Mechanical peeling can treat unsmooth skin, and fix any areas with bumps or superficial scars and are therefore more aggressive than the chemical peeling.

It is important to avoid sun tanning or be exposed in the sun several weeks after any peeling as the new skin is temporarily very sensitive to the sun and special sunblock creams should be used. After a mechanical peeling is recommend to limit your sun exposure during a number of months.
